Find the downloaded file
Open Chrome’s menu and choose Downloads, or open the Downloads folder in your Files app. If the file is still downloading, let it finish. Avoid opening several copies at once.
Follow Android’s installation prompt
- Tap the completed APK file.
- Read the app name and permissions shown by Android.
- If Android asks for permission to install from this source, open the source-specific setting for the browser or file manager you used.
- Return to the installation prompt and continue only if the file and displayed app match what you intended to install.
Settings labels differ between Android versions and phone makers. Keep Play Protect enabled; if your phone flags a file, stop and check the source.
Open the app
When installation finishes, choose Open or find the app in your launcher. Use your existing account details if you have an account. After installation, you can turn off the temporary installation permission for the source.
If Android cannot install the file
Read the exact message before trying again. A partial download, insufficient storage or an existing installation can require different steps.
Find the matching installation problem or review the file-checking steps.
